Our core customer base is involved in new construction of multi-unit residential and commercial buildings. SFP has been in operation for 23 years and is continuing to expand. As part of our growth, we are seeking a motivated and experienced Fire Sprinkler Systems Design Manager to join our dynamic team. Job Summary: The Fire Sprinkler Systems Design Manager will work closely with the VP of pre-construction to oversee and coordinate the design, development, and implementation of fire sprinkler systems across a range of projects. This role requires technical expertise in fire protection, team leadership, and collaboration with various internal and external designers. You will play a key role in ensuring that designs comply with industry codes, regulations, and client specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leading the fire sprinkler systems design process, ensuring that designs meet client specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Supervise and guide permit coordinator and field teams, providing mentorship and support as needed.
- Collaborate with engineers, architects, contractors, and clients to develop detailed fire sprinkler system designs for commercial, residential, and industrial projects.
- Complete and review hydraulic calculations, system analysis, and preparation of design drawings using AutoCAD, Revit, Hydra CAD, or similar software.
- Ensure that all designs comply with national, state, and local fire safety codes, including NFPA 13, 13R, 13D, 14, 20 and other relevant standards.
- Coordinate the review and approval process for fire sprinkler system designs, working with internal and external stakeholders to address any concerns or revisions.
- Assist in the preparation of material takeoffs, equipment schedules, and project cost estimates.
- Provide ongoing support during the installation phase, ensuring systems are installed according to design specifications.
- Conduct site visits as necessary to assess design accuracy, resolve issues, and provide technical assistance during construction.
- Support the preparation and maintenance of project documentation, including design reports, calculations, and code compliance records.
- Assist with project scheduling, resource allocation, and tracking project progress to ensure timely delivery of designs.
- Stay current with industry trends, advancements, and changes in fire protection codes and regulations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
- Minimum 3 Years of experience in fire sprinkler system design.
- Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, Hydra CAD, or similar.
- Strong understanding of fire protection codes and regulations, including NFPA 13, 13R, 13D, 14, 20 and local building codes.
- Proven ability to lead and mentor a team, with excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with clients, contractors, and internal teams.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
