Dental Treatment Coordinator

Swansboro Family Dentistry is looking for an experienced, personable, and highly organized Dental Treatment Coordinator to join our team.

Our Treatment Coordinator plays an important role in helping patients understand their recommended dental care and feel confident moving forward with treatment. We are looking for someone who can combine exceptional patient service with strong communication, organization, and follow-through.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys building relationships with patients, presenting treatment clearly, and helping patients overcome financial or scheduling barriers to completing their dental care.

What You’ll Do

As our Dental Treatment Coordinator, you will:

• Meet with patients to review recommended treatment plans in a clear, compassionate, and confident manner
• Explain treatment sequencing, estimated costs, insurance benefits, and available payment options
• Help patients understand the value and importance of completing recommended dental treatment
• Schedule treatment and coordinate appointments based on clinical priorities and patient needs
• Follow up with patients who have unscheduled or outstanding treatment
• Maintain accurate treatment plan notes and documentation in the patient record
• Verify and communicate insurance estimates while helping patients understand that insurance benefits are estimates rather than guarantees of payment
• Discuss financing and payment options when appropriate
• Coordinate with doctors, hygienists, assistants, scheduling coordinators, and administrative team members to create a smooth patient experience
• Monitor treatment acceptance and outstanding treatment
• Help maintain a productive doctor schedule by actively working treatment opportunities
• Provide exceptional customer service from the initial treatment discussion through completion of care
• Handle sensitive financial and healthcare information professionally and confidentially

Qualifications

• Dental experience strongly preferred
• Previous experience as a Treatment Coordinator, Patient Coordinator, Dental Assistant, or in another dental administrative role is preferred
• Knowledge of dental terminology and common dental procedures preferred
• Understanding of dental insurance benefits and treatment estimates preferred
• Strong computer and communication skills
• Experience with Open Dental software is a plus
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
