Schedule: 4 days a week - 8 am to 4 pm

Qualifications:
A bachelor's degree is preferred and experience in advocacy, aging, social services, health care or related fields. An associate's degree with the experience listed above will be considered.

Job Responsibilities:

The Community Ombudsman will investigate and resolve complaints involving residents of licensed long-term care facilities; participate in advocacy activities on behalf of residents; inform residents of their rights, provide information and education to residents, long-term care staff, and the community; network with other organizations and agencies regarding residents; rights, and complete all case notes in a timely manner in an electronic state operated documentation system.

Must be proficient in Microsoft Office and possess excellent word composition skills.

Must have a valid driver's license, reliable transportation, proof of current automobile insurance, the ability to conduct visits in long-term care facilities, and be able to lift 25 pounds.

Employee is reimbursed at the current IRS rate monthly for travel incurred on-the job.


This is a full-time position - 32 hours per week with a four-day work week 8 am to 4 pm.

The Community Ombudsman must complete 40 hours of Domestic Violence Training. Must complete 36 hours of initial certification training through the Illinois Department on Aging Ombudsman Program.

Employment is contingent on successful background checks through the Illinois State Police and the Department of Children & Family Services (DCFS).

In addition, an employer paid retirement plan is available after one year of employment during open enrollment periods. The employee may start contributing to the retirement plan after 90 days of employment. The pay range is $18-$20 an hour depending on education and experience.
