Job Summary:
Principal Engineer / Technical Lead – Medical Devices & Endoluminal Systems
We are seeking a highly technical and hands-on Principal Engineer / Technical Lead to lead the development of innovative medical device products and technology-focused engineering initiatives. This individual will provide technical leadership for small cross-functional engineering teams while actively contributing to product design, development, and problem-solving activities.
The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in medical device product development, particularly in endoluminal or endoscopy-based consumable devices, along with strong systems-thinking, adaptability, and a collaborative leadership style.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and execute complex engineering projects from concept through commercialization.
- Serve as technical lead for small engineering teams, providing mentorship, direction, and hands-on support.
- Drive product architecture, design strategy, technical decision-making, and risk management activities.
- Design, prototype, and develop innovative medical device systems and consumable products.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with R&D, manufacturing, quality, regulatory, clinical, and program management teams.
- Participate in design reviews, verification/validation activities, root cause investigations, and continuous improvement efforts.
- Contribute to technology roadmap planning and evaluation of emerging technologies.
- Support development activities related to minimally invasive, endoscopic, and endoluminal platforms.
- Ensure engineering deliverables meet quality system and regulatory requirements.
- Foster a collaborative, technically rigorous, and team-oriented engineering culture.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline.
- 12–20 years of engineering experience in the medical device industry.
- Demonstrated experience serving as a technical lead or engineering lead on complex product development programs.
- Strong hands-on engineering capability with expertise in mechanical design and product development.
- Experience developing endoluminal, endoscopic, or minimally invasive consumable medical devices.
- Proven ability to lead small engineering teams on technically challenging projects.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Adaptable, self-motivated, and highly technical team player.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Engineering or related field.
- Experience with robotic-assisted or medical robotics platforms.
- Background in endoscopy product development and minimally invasive technologies.
- Experience working in highly regulated medical device environments.
- Familiarity with catheter-based systems, steerable mechanisms, disposable devices, or complex electromechanical systems.
