SWAN: Scaling Walls a Note at a Time is a faith-based nonprofit empowering children affected by parental incarceration to heal, learn, succeed, and dream. Through trauma-informed music education, mentoring, counseling, and Bible study, SWAN helps children discover their voice, purpose, and the love of Christ.
Role Summary
The Development Director leads SWAN’s fundraising, donor engagement, and strategic advancement efforts to build long-term sustainability and scale. The ideal candidate combines professional development expertise with a heart for ministry, stewarding resources to expand SWAN’s impact in the lives of children and families.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with the Executive Director and Administrative Assistant to implement a three-year strategic development plan for sustainability and growth.
- Cultivate and steward relationships with donors, churches, businesses, and foundations.
- Expand monthly giving, major gifts, and planned giving programs.
- Oversee annual campaigns (Faithful Give, ExtraGive, Gifts That Give Hope, Summer Celebration).
- Manage EITC funding, ensuring compliance and impact reporting.
- Collaborate with SWAN’s grant writer to identify funding opportunities, align proposals with development goals, and ensure timely, compelling submissions.
- Strengthen partnerships through media, podcasts, and community presentations.
- Equip the Board of Directors to support donor cultivation and stewardship.
Qualifications
- A committed Christian aligned with SWAN’s mission (James 1:27).
- 5 years of experience in fundraising or development, ideally in a faith-based or educational nonprofit.
- Proven success in cultivating individual and major donors.
- Strong storytelling, communication, and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of CRM tools, donor databases, and fundraising best practices.
- Strategic thinker with a heart for relational, Gospel-centered giving.
