What are the responsibilities and job description for the Warehouse Associate/Driver position at Swamp Rabbit Cafe and Grocery?
Swamp Rabbit Cafe and Grocery is a showcase for local farmers and food artisans. We buy from over 300 local producers to provide the community with a convenient and fun connection to those producers. We know every farm and every product has a story and we strive to tell the story in our grocery, cafe, kitchen, and food hub. Each one of these products is delivered to Swamp, many times by the farmers themselves. Our warehouse team is the vendor’s main point of contact with the Swamp and our associates service all departments by checking delivery accuracy and quality and getting the product to its proper location.
- Follows delivery protocol to check in products: confirms quantities ordered against what was received and ensures that products are adhering to the highest quality standards
- Addresses any issues with delivery kindly and directly with vendors
- Manages POs, reconciles with invoices, communicates claims to buyers
- Handles damaged or return to stock products according to SRCG policy, with priority given to refrigerated, perishable items and sell by date
- Responsible for accuracy in product inventory, storage, invoicing, cost, and quantity
- Loads deliveries, ensuring each order is of high quality and accurate
- Delivers various Grocery and Kitchen items from the Warehouse to the store according to set delivery schedule
- Labels, stores, and rotates products according to FIFO for each department
- Prints barcodes and labels when needed
- Communicates delivery timing and quality issues to departments, purchaser, and producer
- Keeps Warehouse and multiple storage areas clean, organized and prepared for next shift; performs daily and deep cleaning projects
- Observes all safety regulations when operating equipment
- Understands and adheres to SRCG loss guidelines as relates to SRCG operations
- Receives product at proper quality, freshness, and temperature to meet company standards
- Checks prices and is knowledgeable about the location of items in the store
- Cleans and sanitizes all work surfaces, utensils and equipment in accordance with SCDHEC standards
- Completes Slack tasks for additional moving, labeling, or transferring products
- Assists with pulling Food Hub orders
- Greets all Customers and Vendors and provides them with prompt, courteous service and assistance
- Takes direction from Warehouse Manager and Assistant Warehouse Manager
- Assists fellow employees as needed
DRIVER ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Operates truck and equipment safely using prescribed techniques
- Completes pre-trip and post-trip safety inspection and reports and other documentation requested by supervisor daily
- Communicates vehicle mechanical problems to supervisor immediately
- Navigates routes efficiently while adhering to traffic laws and company policies
- Safely loads and unloads items, ensuring all items are secured for transport
- Ensure that all required personal protective equipment be worn at appropriate times
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Must be 21 years of age or older
Must be available Monday- Sunday
Must have a valid driver’s license and pass a driving record check
Must wear safety footwear that meets ASTM F2413-18 (I50/C50) standard. (Steel toe, composite toe and/or nano composite toe footwear.)
Must be able to obtain a DOT Medical Card (paid for by employer) and pass road test
An ideal candidate is passionate about produce and has experience identifying products that meet a high standard of quality
Must communicate by Paylocity, Slack, and email
Must be self-motivated and able to prioritize time independently
Must be comfortable with direct and kind confrontation and passionate about farm products
Is an active part of the Swamp Team so adheres to high standards of service, quality, and presentation
Takes initiative to help any area of the business if possible
Performs other duties as assigned and requested. It is understood that every incidental duty connected with operations detailed in this job description are not always specifically described. Employees may be required to perform duties not within their job description as requested at the discretion of SRCG Management.
PAY AND BENEFITS
Pay starts at $17.00 per hour, based on experience
Wage increase available if exceeding requirements
Higher hourly wages on Sundays and federal holidays
