Job Summary
We are seeking a part time dynamic and detail-oriented Medical Receptionist to join our Speech Therapy team. In this vital role, you will serve as the first point of contact for patients, providing exceptional customer service while managing a variety of administrative and clinical support tasks. Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly, verify their appointment details, and assist with check-in procedures using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as MICA, Meditech, or Athenahealth.
- Schedule patient appointments efficiently while managing the clinic calendar to optimize provider availability.
- Review and update patient records.
- Handle phone communication with professionalism, providing clear information about services, appointment scheduling, and insurance inquiries while practicing excellent phone etiquette.
- Maintain medical records by filing documents correctly and managing electronic health records (EHR) systems such as eClinicalWorks or Meditech with precision.
- Support medical billing processes by verifying insurance coverage, understanding health insurance policies including Medicare.
- Ensure compliance with clinical confidentiality policies and health information management standards at all times.
- Perform clerical duties including data entry, typing (10 key), filing, and maintaining organized office files to support efficient clinic operations.
- Assist in clinical administrative support tasks such as preparing charts and rooms for provider
Experience
- Prior experience working in a medical office environment or healthcare setting is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated proficiency with EMR/EHR systems like Epic, MICA,Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks is essential.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, medical billing procedures.
- Experience handling health insurance processes such as Medicare and understanding health insurance policies is advantageous.
- Proven clerical experience in a healthcare setting involving front desk operations, appointment scheduling, filing, and data entry.
- Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite for documentation review and administrative tasks.
- Ability to maintain professionalism under pressure while delivering exceptional patient service in a fast-paced environment.
