- Operate the Point of Sale (POS) system accurately to process sales transactions, returns, and exchanges
- Provide excellent customer service by greeting shoppers warmly, answering questions, and assisting with product inquiries
- Conduct product demos when appropriate to showcase features and benefits to customers
- Upsell additional items or promotions to enhance the shopping experience and increase sales
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of checkout areas, including stocking shelves and merchandising displays
- Handle cash, credit card payments, and other payment methods with precision and integrity
- Follow proper phone etiquette when answering inquiries or directing calls from customers or vendors
Skills
- Proficiency with POS systems and cash handling procedures
- Previous supervising experience in retail or customer service environments is a plus
- Ability to perform basic math quickly and accurately for transactions and inventory counts
- Strong communication skills in both verbal and written forms; bilingual abilities are highly valued
- Experience with merchandising, stocking, and product demos to engage customers effectively
- Knowledge of grocery store operations or retail sales practices is advantageous
