Power BI - Data Specialist

S&W Wholesale Foods is looking for a Power BI - Data Specialist! In this role, you will design and maintain database solutions, deliver Power BI Dashboards, and help turn operational data into meaningful insights for our team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Write and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and database objects to support reporting and analytics
• Build and maintain interactive Power BI dashboards and reports for leadership and operational teams
• Design, develop, and maintain ETL/ELT data pipelines to ingest, transform, and load data from multiple business systems and sources
• Oversee database management activities including schema design, indexing, performance tuning, and ongoing maintenance to ensure reliability and scalability
• Collaborate with cross-functional departments to gather requirements and translate them into data models and reporting solutions
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and continuously improve existing pipelines and data processes
• Ensure data quality, accuracy, and consistency across all data assets
• Document data workflows, pipeline architecture, and report logic
• Identify and implement opportunities to automate manual reporting and data processes
• Support ad hoc data requests and analysis as needed

Required Qualifications

• 2 years of experience in a Data Analyst, Data Engineer, or similar role
• Strong proficiency in SQL (query writing, stored procedures, performance tuning)
• Hands-on experience building and maintaining data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes
• Proficiency in Microsoft Power BI (data modeling, DAX, dashboard and report development)
• Experience working with relational databases (SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, or similar)
• Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts and best practices
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with close attention to detail
• Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure (Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL, Synapse Analytics)
• Familiarity with Python or PowerShell for data automation and scripting
• Experience with Microsoft 365 or the Power Platform (Power Automate, Power Apps)
• Experience in integrating third-party data sources
• Background in wholesale distribution, supply chain, or food service industries
• Experience with version control systems (Git)

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Data Science, Computer Science, Business Analytics, or a related field
• 2 years of experience in a Data Analyst, Data Engineer, or similar role
• Experience developing dashboards and reports for operational and executive audiences
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
