Responsibilities
- Safely operate tractor-trailers and other commercial trucks on diverse routes, including OTR driving routes
- Load and unload freight using manual handling techniques or equipment such as forklifts, ensuring cargo integrity and safety
- Transport hazardous materials and dangerous goods in compliance with Hazmat regulations and FMCSA standards
- Use GPS navigation systems to plan efficient routes and ensure timely deliveries across multiple locations
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to verify vehicle safety, including checking for mechanical issues and proper documentation
- Follow all DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations, FMCSA guidelines, and hazardous materials regulations during operations
- Load & unload cargo accurately while adhering to logistics cargo handling procedures for different types of freight such as refrigerated goods, flatbed loads, or tanker liquids
- Maintain detailed logs of driving hours, delivery records, and inspection reports in accordance with DOT regulations
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, customers, and team members to coordinate delivery schedules and resolve any issues promptly
Skills
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving with a focus on delivery driving and route driving
- Familiarity with refrigerated trailers, flatbed trucks, tankers, dump trucks, roll-off trucks, or other specialized equipment is preferred
- Strong knowledge of FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations, DOT (Department of Transportation) rules, and hazardous materials regulations
- Ability to operate manual transmission trucks confidently and handle manual loading/unloading tasks safely
- Skilled in GPS navigation systems for route planning and real-time adjustments during trips
- Experience with logistics cargo handling including freight management for various types of cargo such as dangerous goods or temperature-sensitive items
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with appropriate endorsements for the type of vehicle operated (e.g., Hazmat endorsement if applicable)
- Ability to perform manual handling tasks safely while loading/unloading freight or using equipment like forklifts when necessary
- Excellent driving record demonstrating safe operation over long distances and diverse conditions
