Role Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and skilled Mechanical Drafter to join our engineering team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating precise technical drawings and schematics that support system design, construction, and manufacturing processes. This role requires proficiency in CAD software and a solid understanding of mechanical engineering principles to produce accurate and comprehensive documentation for various projects.
Duties
- Must have working knowledge of AutoCAD, Solid Edge and general MS business software.
- Proficient in generating detailed fabrication drawings in sheet metal environment.
- Able to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, customer specifications and computer generated reports.
- Good understanding of metal manufacturing processes (fabrication, machining, welding and assembly).
- Develop sales and manufacturing drawings in accordance with applicable standards and codes.
- Review order package to determine any changes in design or specifications.
- Produce and review engineering drawings for accuracy.
- Maintain proper drawing and document control in accordance with the standards of ISO 9001:2016 to facilitate the manufacture of components on time.
- Review standard product designs for modifications or improvements.
- Manage multiple moderately complex projects at one time.
- Directs the response to customer inquiries with adequate designs in a timely fashion.
- Recommend procedures, equipment or material to improve productivity and profitability.
Experience
- Mechanical diploma/degree and previous work experience in metal fabrication industry.
- Proficiency in CAD software including AutoCAD, Revit, MicroStation, SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, and Pro/ENGINEER is essential.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, schematics, blueprints, and system design principles.
- Knowledge of the mechanics of process piping systems and the integration of our products with customer process systems is a plus.
Knowledge of mechanical engineering concepts combined with excellent drafting skills to produce accurate technical documentation.
