Sutton School Custodian 2nd Shift

POSITION TITLE: 2nd Shift Custodian REPORTS TO: Facility Manager SUMMARY: The Custodian is responsible for the completion of assigned tasks following the end of the school day and for preparing the building for the next scheduled school day. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Keeps building and premises, including sidewalks, driveways, and play areas, neat and clean at all times 2. Monitors heat, ventilation, and lighting to ensure efficient and economical usage of fuel, water, and electricity; Reports all malfunctions to the maintenance department 3. Shovels, plows, and/or sand walks, driveways, parking areas, and steps, as appropriate 4. Checks daily to ensure that all exit doors and panic exit doors are working properly 5. Vacuum classrooms, hallways, and/or assigned areas daily and at other times when their condition requires it 6. Scrubs, hoses down, and disinfects toilet floors, as scheduled, and cleans all sanitary fixtures (toilets, urinals, wash sinks, showers) and drinking fountains daily 7. Keeps the grounds free from rubbish 8. Keeps all floors in a clean and attractive condition 9. Makes minor building repairs such as repairing tables, chairs, desks, etc. 10. Report any property damage immediately to the supervisor 11. Remains on school premises during assigned shift and during hours when the use of the building has been authorized and attendance is required 12. Maintains building security at the end of his/her shift, ensuring that all doors and windows are secured; all lights, except for those left on for safety reasons, are turned off; and that all interior and exterior doors are secured and locked 13. Conducts an ongoing program of general maintenance, upkeep, and repair of assigned areas 14. Cleans classrooms, restrooms, offices, locker rooms, gym, etc. 15. Performs emergency repairs or cleaning services, as necessary 16. Performs other duties as assigned by the Facility Manager OBJECTIVE: To clean and secure assigned areas after the school day and to prepare assigned areas for evening functions and the next school day. QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Knowledge of cleaning practices and skills in small building repairs 2. Ability to work independently and respond to a variety of situations 3. Reliable, responsible, and punctual 4. Enjoys working with staff and students in a school environment 5. Ability to follow through and complete assignments without constant supervision EDUCATION: High School Diploma

Salary : $20 - $24
