Sutter West Bay Medical Group (SWBMG) is a premier multi-specialty medical group made up of over 200 physicians practicing in the greater San Francisco service area. SWBMG works in partnership with Sutter Pacific Medical Foundation (SPMF), a non-profit organization providing care through its affiliation with SWBMG. Physicians work as a team to provide patient-focused care that encourages a sense of teamwork. SPMF provides physicians with an administrative infrastructure, allowing physicians to focus on patient care.

Key Responsibilities
- Ambulatory Quality Oversight
- Lead and manage the SWBMG-SPMF Ambulatory Quality Committee
- Partner with medical group and Foundation leaders to achieve best practice performance on the Sutter Health Ambulatory Quality Dashboard.
- Develop and implement plans to address performance gaps in quality metrics
- Act as the external representative for Sutter West Bay Medical Group (SWBMG) in Sutter Health (SH) system-wide quality initiatives
- Development of Quality Improvement (QI) Project Framework
- Establish a structured process to support QI projects, including workflow development, scope definition, and data access
- Assist in collecting and analyzing data for short-term clinical projects
- Provide expertise and guidance without direct budgetary responsibilities
- Help package and present findings for operational or system-wide review
- Medical Group-Focused Quality Targets & Standards
- Collaborate with physician leadership to define quality targets for SWBMG
- Work towards standardized quality measures across specialties (e.g., cardiology, thoracic surgery)
- Investigate existing specialty-specific quality guidelines to integrate into SWBMG standards
- Ensure alignment with national benchmarks and explore internal tracking of clinical outcomes
- System & Interdepartmental Collaboration
- Interface with other Medical Directors of Quality to align system-wide quality strategies
- Represent SWBMG at Sutter Health Ambulatory Quality Committee meetings and coordinate subcommittees
- Maintain relationships with internal stakeholders (e.g., Quality Champions, system-wide leadership)
- Minimal, mostly within the Bay Area (~1–2 times per year to Sacramento)
- Primarily local or virtual meetings
- Board Certified in any specialty
