The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other related duties may be required or assigned.
- Supervises, directs and evaluates assigned staff, processes employee concerns and problems, directs work, counsels and disciplines staff.
- Inspects, assesses and monitors all County facilities for safe and proper clean work environments; identifies and resolves problems; receives and evaluates reports of repairs.
- Schedules the use of various equipment necessary for job completion.
- Trains staff on the hazards associated with cleaning compounds/agents, the effects of the compounds/agents and the methods, materials and equipment used in basic janitorial work.
- Maintains safety records and related documents for the custodial safety program and provides overall quality control for the work performed by assigned staff.
- Assists in the preparation of budget for custodial maintenance; makes recommendations for replacement of equipment; purchases materials and supplies for custodial work within established guidelines.
- Supervises and/or facilitates repair work referring to supervisor as appropriate.
- Participates in the cleaning of buildings and facilities on an as needed basis.
Ability to: Plan, supervise, assign and coordinate the work of custodians; direct and train subordinates; analyze situations using good judgment and take appropriate and effective action; communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; keep records and prepare reports; establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the scope of employment; meet the physical requirements of the job; operate buffer, carpet cleaner and vacuum cleaner.
Education and Experience: Three years of custodial experience involving public buildings and some lead worker or supervisory experience and/or training, or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills and abilities.Essential Duties require the following physical skills and work requirements:
Requires the ability to maintain mental capacity of exercising sound judgment and rational thinking under varied circumstances; the ability to exert a small amount of physical effort in sedentary to light work involving moving from one area of the office to another; the ability to see; ability to hear and communicate orally; requires the ability to exert a considerable amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects and to stoop, crouch, climb and lift in performance of manual labor; perceive color, odor, texture and sound; operate a variety of tools, equipment and vehicles used in performance of daily tasks; ability to work around electrical currents and, cleaning chemicals and toxic waste in a safe manner; may be subject to uncomfortable working conditions including exposure to dust, noise, heat or cold; must be able to perceive color, shapes, and forms; requires the ability to operate a motor vehicle.
License or Certificate: Must possess and maintain an appropriate, valid driver's license.

Salary : $48,131 - $66,414
