Sutherland is looking for a skilled General Ledger Accountant to join one of our growing retail programs working out of our client site in Chesapeake, VA.
A General Ledger Accountant will be responsible for ensuring that all financial data from stores, inventory systems, POS systems, AP/AR, and payroll flows accurately into the general ledger, enabling correct financial reporting.

Responsibilities:
- Monthly & Daily General Ledger Maintenance
- Inventory Accounting & COGS Adjustments
- Bank & Cash Reconciliation
- AP & AR Subledger Reconciliation
- Fixed Assets Accounting
- Accruals & Prepayments
- Financial Closing & Reporting
- Internal Controls & Compliance
Our most successful candidates will have:
- 5-8 years of experience as a General Ledger Accountant
- Lawson ERP knowledge/experience
- Accounting experience supporting the retail industry will be a major plus
- A customer-oriented attitude, handling first level of communications and issues
- Capacity to efficiently manage time and keep track of multiple schedules,
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Bachelor’s Degree, Post Graduate Diploma, Professional Degree, Finance/Accountancy/Banking or equivalent.
