Sustainable Talent is looking for a seasoned Lean Continuous Improvement (CI) Manager to support our client's growing team! This is a W-2 full-time Direct Hire position based in the Louisville, KY area. The Lean Continuous Improvement (CI) Manager is responsible for driving a culture of operational excellence across the automotive manufacturing facility. This role leads the implementation and sustainability of Lean methodologies, Six Sigma principles, and continuous improvement initiatives to reduce waste, improve quality, enhance productivity, and lower costs. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker and hands-on leader with a strong background in lean manufacturing and proven experience in the automotive sector.  

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Champion, Implement and Launch Lean Manufacturing initiatives, including value stream mapping, 5S, Kaizen, standard work, SMED, and visual management. 
  • Facilitate cross-functional continuous improvement projects using Lean and Six Sigma tools (DMAIC, PDCA, etc.). 
  • Train, coach, and mentor employees at all levels on Lean tools, principles, and problem-solving methodologies. 
  • Lead and support Kaizen events focused on eliminating waste and improving flow, quality, and efficiency. 
  • Develop, track, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to CI, such as OEE, scrap, rework, and throughput. 
  • Collaborate with production, quality, engineering, and supply chain teams to identify and prioritize improvement opportunities. 
  • Create and maintain standard work and process documentation for sustained improvements. 
  • Lead root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective action processes to prevent recurrence of issues. 
  • Promote a continuous improvement culture throughout the plant, fostering employee engagement and accountability. 
  • Support implementation of digital manufacturing and Industry 4.0 tools that align with Lean principles. 

 

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations Management, or related field (Required). Master’s degree or MBA (a plus) 
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt Certification (Required) 
  • 5–8 years of progressive experience in manufacturing, with at least 3 years focused on Lean or Continuous Improvement roles in the automotive industry. 
  • Strong knowledge of lean tools and manufacturing systems such as TPS (Toyota Production System). 
  • Experience working in high-volume production environments, ideally with Tier 1 or OEM automotive suppliers. 

 

Skills: 

  • Strong analytical and project management skills 
  • Proficient in problem-solving tools (5 Whys, Fishbone, Pareto) 
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills 
  • Ability to influence and engage teams at all organizational levels 
  • ERP/MES system knowledge (e.g., SAP, Plex) and Microsoft Office Suite proficiency 

 

Work Environment: 

  • Plant floor and office setting; regular presence in production areas is required 
  • Occasional travel to other company sites or suppliers
