Sustainable Putnam is an all-volunteer nonprofit organization, founded in 2020. We are dedicated to assisting all residents of our County, with a specific emphasis on those who are most vulnerable.
Our Board of Directors actively lead our programs and govern our direction with the assistance of other volunteers, and through partnerships with other local nonprofits. We are committed to developing a more diverse leadership team as we continue to grow our Board and volunteer base.

Applications are being accepted from Wednesday, October 1, 2025, through October 26, 2025, for Sustainable Putnam’s 2026 Board of Directors’ Election. Our Board members are volunteers elected by the Board of Directors who play a vital role in governing the nonprofit organization in alignment with our Mission, Vision, and Values.

- Repair Café occasional on site events at which volunteers repair household items such as small appliances, lamps, clocks, clothing and more.
- Clean Home Energy our energy advisors provide free consultations to assist residents in reducing energy costs, increasing efficiency and comfort, while reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
- Food Scrap Recycling town-based teams of volunteers work to devise and implement solutions to food waste including diversion to food pantries, local farms for feedstock, and drop-off community composting
