Job Title: Accounting Supervisor
Location: North Platte, Nebraska

Job Summary:
The Senior Accounting Supervisor oversees daily accounting operations, ensures compliance with accounting standards, and provides leadership to the accounting team. This role manages financial reporting, month-end close processes, internal controls, and supports strategic financial planning. The Senior Accounting Supervisor serves as a key liaison between accounting staff, management, and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting & Analysis
- Oversee preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Ensure accuracy and timeliness of general ledger activities and account reconciliations.
- Analyze financial results, identify trends, and present insights to senior leadership.
- Support budgeting and forecasting activities with data-driven analysis.
Accounting Operations Management
- Supervise daily accounting functions, including AP/AR, payroll accounting, cash management, and fixed assets.
- Oversee month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring adherence to deadlines and quality standards.
- Review journal entries, reconciliations, and financial documentation for accuracy and compliance.
Compliance & Internal Controls
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, company policies, and relevant regulatory requirements.
- Maintain and strengthen internal controls across all accounting processes.
- Assist with internal and external audits by preparing schedules and responding to audit inquiries.
Leadership & Team Development
- Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff, including training and performance evaluations.
- Foster a collaborative, high-performing team environment focused on accuracy and efficiency.
- Delegate tasks effectively while maintaining oversight and quality assurance.
Process Improvement & Systems
- Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and implement best practices.
- Partner with IT and finance leadership to optimize ERP systems and reporting tools.
- Lead or support special projects involving system upgrades, automation, and workflow enhancements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or CMA preferred).
- 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience; supervisory experience required.
- Experience with A/P, A/R, Fixed Assets, month-end close, financial reporting, and audit support.
Preferred Skills:
- Strong understanding of GAAP and internal control frameworks.
- Proficiency with accounting/ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics).
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, modeling).
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational abilities.
- Strong communication skills with ability to present financial information clearly.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
