Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise nursing staff and clinical teams within the ambulatory surgery center, ensuring high standards of patient care and safety.
  • Oversee patient assessment processes, including pre-operative evaluations, vital signs monitoring, and post-operative recovery.
  • Coordinate surgical schedules, ensuring optimal utilization of operating rooms (OR), equipment, and personnel while adhering to hospital policies and state healthcare regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA privacy standards, infection control protocols, and medical documentation requirements using EMR systems such as Cerner or eClinicalWorks.
  • Manage staffing levels, conduct performance evaluations, facilitate staff training on topics like sterile processing, aseptic technique, IV insertion, catheter care, and medical terminology.
  • Collaborate with physicians, anesthesiologists, and ancillary services to facilitate smooth surgical workflows including catheterization procedures, airway management, and diagnostic evaluations.
  • Implement quality improvement initiatives related to patient care, medication administration, CPT coding (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD coding (International Classification of Diseases), and utilization review processes to optimize clinical outcomes.
  • Maintain oversight of medical records accuracy, medical documentation standards, and ensure adherence to accreditation standards such as NCQA or state healthcare regulations.

Skills

  • Extensive experience working with EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Cerner or Athenahealth for documentation and patient record management.
  • Proven leadership in nurse management roles within outpatient or hospital settings; supervisory experience required.
  • Critical care experience including ICU or Level I & II trauma center exposure; familiarity with acute pain management and ventilator management preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy knowledge, physiology principles related to perioperative care and patient assessment.
  • Skilled in managing care teams across diverse specialties such as geriatrics, behavioral health, pediatrics—including neonatal ventilator management—and dementia or memory care units.
  • Expertise in infection control practices, sterile processing techniques, specimen collection/processing, laboratory experience and medical imaging procedures.
  • Ability to navigate complex regulatory environments including HIPAA compliance, long-term care regulations, workers' compensation law requirements and DME (Durable Medical Equipment) protocols.
  • Excellent managerial communication skills for team coordination, discharge planning, family education on post-surgical care including nutrition and wound suturing techniques.

Pay: $90,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
