What are the responsibilities and job description for the Entry Level Maintenance Assistant (Oil Clean Up) - 3rd Shift position at Sussex IM?
Summary of Position
The Entry Level Maintenance Assistant ensures that the plant is kept clean and safe. This position makes rounds of the manufacturing plant to keep the floor clean of oil, water, parts, and materials. Also, spills and leaks around the injection molding machines are cleaned up and the floor is swept to clean up plastic parts and material in the area.
Essential Duties, Responsibilities, & Authority
- Keeps the manufacturing plant safe by cleaning oil and water from the floor. Makes frequent rounds of the manufacturing plant to identify and clean oil and water leaks around the machines. Cleans oil from under the injection carriage of machines.
- Identifies machines that are leaking oil by documenting them using the supplied press diagram. Turns diagrams into Lead Technician to assess and communicate any press maintenance needs. Communicates with the Lead Technician about any severe leaks (for example, leaks that need to be cleaned multiple times in a single shift).
- Performs cleanup and housekeeping tasks around the plant, keeping the floor clear of parts, materials, purgings, and other debris.
- Participates in team meetings and other company meetings as necessary.
- Responsible for checking forklift, electric pallet jacks, and scissor lifts after proper training is given.
- Maintains a safe working environment to minimize the possibility of an injury. Reports any unsafe conditions to supervisor. Involved with safety and 5S audit findings.
- Assists Building & Grounds Maintenance Assistant as necessary.
- Follows Sussex IM’s environmental policies to protect and minimize our impact on the environment.
- Maintains a safe 5S working environment to minimize the possibility of an injury. Always acts in a safe manner and ensures that those around them do not put themselves or others at risk. Reports any unsafe conditions to a manager.
- Performs other related duties and assignments as assigned or required.
Required Education, Credentials, & Certifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred, or ability to understand and apply all training.
Job Specification
- Experience working in a manufacturing plant or in the plastics industry preferred.
