What are the responsibilities and job description for the Building & Grounds Maintenance Mechanic I - 1st Shift position at Sussex IM?
Summary of Position
Under supervision of the Building & Grounds Maintenance Supervisor, assists with general cleaning & maintenance work of structures, electrical systems, small machines, heating systems, plumbing, etc. to assure the building and surrounding grounds are clean, orderly, and in good working condition.
Essential Duties, Responsibilities, & Authority
- Keeps the Company's outside grounds in safe, clean order. This includes assisting with tasks such as snow removal, salting, lawn maintenance and gardening, etc.
- Assists with supervising 3rd Party contractors when they are in the building
- Regular preventive maintenance & checks of lock-out tagout system, fire extinguishers, docks, sump pumps, AC units, water systems, and all other regular facilities.
- Documenting all maintenance activities in MRO software.
- Responsible for the installation, alteration, repair, and maintenance of buildings & mechanical/ electrical equipment. Changes light bulbs, installs flooring, painting, hangs TVs, etc.
- Responsible for the cleanliness of the offices, plant lunchrooms, plant, and office bathrooms. Will gladly perform duties such as taking out garbage & recycling, cleaning bathrooms, and other janitorial tasks in a backup capacity for the Building and Grounds Assistant.
- Assists supervisor in servicing tower and chiller daily. Controls tower chemical inventory. Makes sure all chemicals are added when needed.
- Assist with physical office related moves included dismantling and assembly of furniture, partitions, or other equipment.
- Assist plant maintenance department with machinery/equipment tasks as time allows.
- Able to assist in a back-up capacity for the Building & Grounds Maintenance Supervisor.
- Completes special projects as requested.
- Follows Sussex IM's environmental policies to protect and minimize our impact on the environment.
- Maintains a safe 5S working environment to minimize the possibility of an injury. Always acts in a safe manner and ensures that those around them do not put themselves or others at risk. Reports any unsafe conditions to a manager.
- Performs other related duties and assignments as needed and/or requested.
Required Education, Credentials, & Certifications
- Technical School degree or equivalent work experience
- Valid drivers license with a good driving record
Job Specification
- 3 years maintenance experience in manufacturing environment.

- Ability to physically be on your feet most of the day and lift >35 lbs.

Salary : $42,000 - $72,000
