This technician position will cover our Lewes location primarily with additional coverage days at our Long Neck location. Please note the training for this position will occur at our Long Neck office.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for eye examinations by collecting intake information, updating medical histories, and explaining procedures clearly.
  • Perform vital signs measurements, including blood pressure, pulse, and other relevant health indicators in accordance with clinical confidentiality policies.
  • Operate ophthalmic diagnostic imaging equipment such as tonometers for intraocular pressure measurement, and other ophthalmic diagnostic tools with precision and aseptic technique.
  • Assist with eye refraction tests and conduct basic ophthalmic patient examinations under the supervision of the optometrist.
  • Manage electronic health records (EHR) by accurately documenting patient information, test results, and clinical notes while maintaining strict HIPAA compliance.
  • Maintain medical records and ensure all clinical equipment is properly sterilized and calibrated according to safety standards.

Requirements

  • Prior experience in a medical office setting or ophthalmology clinic is highly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy related to the eye, and physiology principles relevant to ophthalmic care.
  • Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems for managing electronic health records efficiently.
  • Ability to operate ophthalmic diagnostic imaging equipment such as Optos, OCT, and TVF's.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Excellent patient service skills with a friendly, professional demeanor capable of handling diverse patient needs including pediatrics.
  • Basic understanding of medical coding processes related to ophthalmology procedures is a plus.
  • Retail experience or front desk skills are beneficial for managing patient flow and administrative tasks effectively.

Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
