Qualifications
Job Description:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Prior commercial/institutional custodial experience.
- Valid PA Driver's License.
SUPERVISORY
- Direct the activities of the Day/Evening Custodians and Custodians In-Charge.
- Responds to requests made by faculty, office staff and building principals.
- Receives, inspects and delivers school supplies as needed.
- Provides input to the Custodial and Grounds Supervisor and Building Principals regarding the safety, cleanliness and security/operation of district buildings.
- Assists with the coordination, set-up and coverage of events and building rentals.
- Responds to emergencies and overtime as required and other duties as assigned.
- Clean Halls, Restrooms and Drinking Fountains twice daily or as needed.
- Cleans Main Entrances daily or as needed.
- Cleans Auditorium and Cafeteria daily or as needed.
- Maintains all parking lots, grounds, sidewalks and playgrounds daily.
- Replace batteries as needed.
- Replace lamps and ballasts as needed.
- Replace ceiling tile as needed.
- Fundamental knowledge of building operation and controls, such as the fire and security systems, boilers, unit vents and utility shut offs.
- Exhibit good communication and organizational skills.
- Works well independently and as part of a team.
- Can understand and follow both written and oral instructions in English.
- Will attend District sponsored training and in-services as requested.
- Exposure to inside and outside environmental conditions, such as heat and cold.
- Exposure to hazards including a variety of physical conditions such as closeness to moving mechanical parts, electrical current, working in high and/or confined spaces and using chemicals.
- All manner of hand tools and other District grounds and custodial equipment to include scrubbers, vacuums, snow blowers, ladders and lifts.
- Must be able to stand three hours at one time.
- Must be able to walk one hour at one time and four total hours.
- Must frequently be able to bend. stoop, squat, crouch, kneel, balance and reach above shoulders.
- Must be able to lift and carry materials in excess of 50 pounds.
- Must use both hands for repetitive actions such as simple grasping, firm grasping, pushing/pulling, fine manipulation, writing or printing, and twisting/turning.
