What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sushi Chef position at Sushi Tsuki?
We are seeking an experienced and reliable Sushi Chef (Second Position) to support the head sushi chef in day-to-day operations. The ideal candidate has a strong background in Japanese cuisine, demonstrates attention to detail, and works well in a fast-paced kitchen.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the head sushi chef in preparing sushi and sashimi to high standards
- Ensure proper handling and storage of all ingredients, especially raw fish
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sushi bar
- Monitor inventory and communicate supply needs
- Uphold food safety and sanitation standards
- Collaborate with kitchen staff and contribute to daily prep work
Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of sushi chef experience
- Solid knife skills and understanding of Japanese ingredients and techniques
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure and during busy hours
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Food Handler Certification (or willingness to obtain)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in a high-volume or fine-dining sushi restaurant
- Bilingual in English and Japanese or another Asian language is a plus
