Responsibilities
- Assist with preparing ingredients such as fish, rice, vegetables, and garnishes for sushi dishes
- Support the sushi chefs in assembling and plating sushi items efficiently and accurately
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen station, including proper food handling and storage
- Follow food safety protocols to ensure all ingredients are handled hygienically and stored correctly
- Help with basic food preparation tasks like slicing fish with knife skills and portioning ingredients
- Ensure all tools and equipment are sanitized and maintained according to health standards
- Contribute to a positive team environment by supporting kitchen staff during busy service periods
Experience
- Previous experience in a dietary department or dietary aide role is preferred but not required
- Familiarity with food preparation, cooking, or food service environments is highly advantageous
- Experience working in restaurants or kitchens demonstrates strong food handling skills
- Knowledge of menu planning, meal preparation, and catering practices is a plus
- Understanding of food safety standards and proper knife skills are beneficial
