Sushi Chef Institute is a respected culinary school dedicated to providing the highest quality of sushi making. With 20 years of education in the art of Japanese cuisine, we help aspiring chefs and culinary professionals develop real-world skills through intensive, hands-on training.

We are currently seeking a highly organized, professional, and dependable Administrative Assistant / Office Coordinator to support our day-to-day operations and help deliver an exceptional experience for our students, guests, and clients.

Position Overview

The Administrative Assistant / Office Coordinator plays a key role in supporting the daily operations of Sushi Chef Institute. This position serves as the front-line point of contact for phone and email communications, assists with student support, provides administrative and bookkeeping assistance, and helps maintain our brand presence through social media coordination.

The right candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable balancing customer service, office administration, and light digital marketing support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Answer and manage incoming phone calls with professionalism and excellent customer service
  • Monitor and respond to email inquiries in a timely and courteous manner
  • Support prospective students, current students, and clients with general information and administrative assistance
  • Coordinate and assist with customer service, ensuring a welcoming and professional experience
  • Provide daily support to students and help address general administrative needs
  • Perform daily bookkeeping tasks using Square (payment tracking, sales records, and basic transaction support)
  • Handle general office administration and organizational tasks
  • Assist with filing, scheduling, data entry, and document management
  • Create and post content for social media platforms, including:
  • Instagram
  • Facebook
  • Help maintain a polished and professional front office environment
  • Support additional operational tasks as needed to ensure smooth daily school operations

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in an administrative assistant, office coordinator, receptionist, or customer service role
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Professional phone etiquette and customer-facing presence
  • Ability to manage email correspondence clearly and efficiently
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Comfortable multitasking in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment
  • Basic bookkeeping or cash handling experience preferred
  • Experience using Square or similar POS/payment systems is a plus
  • Familiarity with Instagram and Facebook for business posting
  • Proficiency with general office tools (Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, email, scheduling tools)
  • Reliable, punctual, and proactive
  • Interest in culinary, hospitality, education, or Japanese culture is a plus

Schedule & Compensation

  • Full time, Part time, Flexible
  • 20-40 hours per week
  • Starting at $20.00 per hour

Benefits

  • 1 week paid vacation starting in the 2nd year
  • 2 weeks paid vacation starting in the 3rd year and beyond
