Position Summary:
The Dishwasher is a vital member of our back-of-house team, ensuring the cleanliness and sanitation of all kitchenware, tableware, and cooking equipment. This is a physically demanding role that requires a reliable and hardworking individual who is committed to maintaining the highest standards of hygiene and efficiency. The ideal candidate will be a dedicated team player who can support the entire restaurant operation by keeping a steady flow of clean dishes and a spotless kitchen environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Dishwashing & Sanitation:
- Operate the dishwashing machine and perform manual dishwashing duties for larger items.
- Scrape, rinse, and rack dishes, glasses, silverware, pots, pans, and other kitchen utensils.
- Ensure all items are thoroughly cleaned and sanitized according to health department standards.
- Return clean dishes, utensils, and cookware to their designated storage areas in a timely and organized manner.
- Monitor and maintain the cleanliness and proper functioning of the dish machine, including checking and changing water and chemical levels.
Kitchen Support & Upkeep:
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the dishwashing area and back-of-house space.
- Sweep and mop kitchen floors regularly to prevent slips and maintain cleanliness.
- Assist in taking out trash and recycling and keeping all waste areas clean.
- Help with basic food preparation as needed, such as washing and peeling vegetables.
- Restock necessary items in the kitchen and serving areas.
- Alert management to any equipment malfunctions or issues with supplies.
- Clean, monitor, stock and maintain the cleanliness of restrooms and service areas.
Team Collaboration:
- Work efficiently with the rest of the kitchen staff, including chefs and cooks, to ensure a smooth operation.
- Communicate clearly with teammates about the status of dish flow and any immediate needs.
- Maintain a positive and supportive attitude within the team.
- Adhere to all restaurant policies and safety procedures.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a dishwasher or in a similar role is preferred but not required.
- The ability to stand for long periods and perform repetitive tasks.
- A strong work ethic and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to cleanliness.
- The ability to lift and carry heavy trays and bus tubs.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a team.
- Must be reliable and punctual.
- Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
