RGS supports all Rancher products with U.S. based American citizen with the highest security clearances who are currently supporting programs across the Department of Defense, Intelligence Community, and civilian agencies.
POSITION SUMMARY
Rancher Government Solutions (RGS) is looking for a motivated DevSecOps Intern to join our engineering team. In this role, you will gain hands-on experience with cloud-native deployment models built on Kubernetes and contribute directly to the tools and automation that power mission-critical infrastructure for government customers. This is a highly technical, project-driven internship where your contributions will have real impact.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Design and build Kubernetes operators and controllers to automate infrastructure and application lifecycle management
Develop internal tooling in Go to extend Kubernetes-native capabilities for mission-critical workloads
Contribute to CI/CD pipeline development using platforms like GitHub Actions and Tekton
Help establish and improve GitOps workflows for automated, auditable deployments
Learn and apply DevSecOps principles across the full software development and infrastructure lifecycle
Participate in code reviews and collaborate in an agile, remote-first environment
QUALIFICATIONS
Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent self-directed experience)
Familiarity with Kubernetes concepts (Pods, Deployments, Services, Namespaces, etc.)
Understanding of core DevSecOps principles -CI/CD, shift-left security, infrastructure as code
Software development experience; **Golang strongly preferred**
Comfort working in a Linux-based command-line environment
Strong curiosity, initiative, and willingness to learn in a fast-moving environment
