What you will be doing in the role of a Community Manager, Social Marketing
The Community Manager, Social Marketing, will serve as Susan G. Komen’s dedicated lead for daily social media listening, monitoring and engagement across all social media channels. This role ensures our online community receives timely, accurate and compassionate support, while also protecting brand reputation.
Social platforms are one of our most visible and sensitive touchpoints, often serving as the first point of contact for breast cancer patients, survivors, caregivers, fundraisers and individuals seeking support or information. This role serves as a frontline representative for the organization, answering questions, acknowledging comments, providing support and ensuring our community feels seen, heard and supported.
Using social monitoring and listening tools, this role will proactively identify topic-specific content and influential voices shaping conversations, breakout stories and detect emerging issues before they escalate even beyond direct tags. By cultivating a supportive online community and reinforcing Komen’s presence in conversations related to breast cancer related topics, Komen can extend our reach into communities, safeguard our events and people and amplify thought leadership.
This position will also support broader digital marketing efforts and requires strong communication skills, sound judgement, compassion and the ability to manage a high volume of messages and interactions with accuracy and professionalism.

What You Will Bring To The Table
- Monitor and respond to comments, messages and tags across Komen social platforms daily (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, X, etc.)
- Identify keywords, topics, partner names, geographic signals and risk indicators to inform monitoring queries; refine and optimize regularly for maximum coverage and accuracy
- Respond to inquiries, questions and messages with accuracy, empathy and urgency
- Apply social listening and engage with user-generated content (UGC) and flag for reposting
- Provide directions to Komen resources
- Engage actively with supporters
- Identify and escalate urgent or sensitive situations
- Follow established escalation protocols and crisis communication workflows
- Lead proactive monitoring for emerging issues and/or conversations related to Komen’s work
- Help maintain positive and safe community interaction spaces
- Flag and manage harmful content
- Support moderations and community guidelines enforcement
- Track volume, response times and engagement trends; report and track sentiment
- Be proactive with ideas on how to foster affection for our brand
- Manage inboxes and platform notifications, ensuring timely resolution
- Collaborates with the social team and internal partners to develop an approved standard list of responses to comments and questions from constituents.
- Bachelor's degree and minimum 3-5 years’ experience in community management, social support and digital communication
- Passion for social media and building online communities
- Experience managing social media engagement at scale
- Strong judgement and ability to handle sensitive topics
- Experience with Sprout Social or similar platforms preferred
- High attention to detail and ability to multitask
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet response-time expectations
- Social listening tool, preferably Sprout Social, NewsWhip
- Relevant social media experience with an emphasis on community monitoring

- Competitive salary of $67,000 - $85,000/annual, exact compensation ranges are based on a range of factors including but not limited to the labor market, job level, internal equity, and budget. Offers given will take into consideration the candidate's skills, education, experience, geographic location, and other necessary credentials.
