As a Private Survival Swim Instructor, you will provide one-on-one lessons that travel directly to the client’s home or chosen pool, delivering personalized, safety-focused swim instruction that saves lives.
This role is perfect for strong swimmers who want to teach an essential skill, create meaningful change, and join a growing national brand committed to water safety. You’ll help children learn to swim safe, swim confidently, and—most importantly—swim to survive.
Responsibilities
- Deliver customized one-on-one survival swim lessons for students of all ages, prioritizing water safety, confidence building, and essential life-saving techniques.
- Assess each swimmer’s abilities, identify safety risks, and set achievable skill-based goals using Survival Swim’s certified training methods and progression charts.
- Maintain the highest level of safety by following all water safety protocols and supervising students closely during every lesson.
- Use engaging teaching methods—including drills, flotation practices, confidence-building exercises, and fun water-based activities—to help students master survival skills quickly and effectively.
- Provide calm, positive behavior guidance to keep lessons structured, encouraging, and supportive.
- Communicate clearly with parents or guardians regarding progress, skill milestones, safety recommendations, and next-step goals.
- Keep all lesson materials organized and ensure that each lesson environment is safe and prepared for instruction.
- Participate in ongoing Survival Swim training, including virtual onboarding, survival swim certification, and continued education to stay current on drowning-prevention standards and best practices.
Qualifications
- Strong swimming ability required; experience in swim instruction, water safety, or lifeguarding is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of survival swim concepts or willingness to complete Survival Swim’s training and certification program.
- Experience working with children in coaching, childcare, education, or recreation settings.
- Ability to provide firm, positive behavior management while creating an encouraging and fun learning environment.
- Excellent communication skills for working with both children and parents.
- CPR certification
- Reliable transportation to travel to client homes and lesson locations.
