Seeking a self-motivated, organized draftsman for a land survey company. The Draftsman will be responsible for preparing detailed drawings, maps, and layouts based on data collected by field survey crews. This role requires a high level of proficiency in AutoCAD and an excellent understanding of land survey principles, mapping standards, and documentation processes. The position will work closely with surveyors, engineers, and project managers to understand project requirements and provide accurate deliverables. Ability to communicate efficiently with field survey teams to resolve discrepancies and clarify data requirements is required.
Responsibilities
- Develop detailed survey drawings, plats, topographic maps, and layouts using CAD software.
- Interpret data collected by field crews to accurately represent site conditions.
- Work closely with project managers and surveyors to ensure deliverables meet project specifications and deadlines.
- Perform data entry, file management, and document preparation using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Google Maps.
- Ensure all drawings adhere to company standards and regulatory requirements.
- Make revisions to existing drawings as required.
Qualifications:
- 5 years’ experience in land surveying preferred.
- Candidate will be required to demonstrate strong self-motivational and organizational skills, experience with survey computations and platting. Field experience preferred.
- Position may require some field work.
- Land Development survey experience with emphasis on land development projects and ALTA surveys a plus.
- Experience with the following programs preferred: AutoCAD/ Carlson, Google Earth, Microsoft Word & Excel.
- Experience with the following equipment preferred: Carlson data collection, GPS receivers, and robotic total stations.
- Computer skills involved in the submittal of daily files including downloading of data, preparation/organization of field sketches & digital photographs, completion of daily checklists is required.
- Candidate must be able to pass a background check, and have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the company’s driving (MVR) policy.
