Surry Rural Health Center is looking for a full-time Medical Assistant. A Medical Assistant is responsible for preparing patient rooms and assisting in the efficient flow of patient care within a healthcare facility. This role involves both administrative and clinical tasks to ensure a positive patient experience and support healthcare providers.
Job Responsibilities and Duties
- Monitor patient flow and physician schedules
- Greet and room patients, ensuring they feel comfortable and informed
- Verifies patient information by interviewing the patient, recording medical history, and confirming the purpose of the visit
- Take and document vital signs, height, weight, and other information for patient visit
- Collect patient medical histories and update electronic health records (EHR)
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and team members about the care process
- Administer vaccines, injections, and medications under the direction of a physician
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation as required
- Perform EKGs, Spirometry, and other basic laboratory tests or office procedures as directed
- Assist physicians or other nursing staff during patient examinations and procedures
- Provide educational materials to patients regarding their care and follow-up instructions
- Ensure patient rooms are clean, organized, and equipped with necessary supplies
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading professional publications
- Respond to emergencies in the office per facility protocol
- Handle phone calls and assist with administrative tasks as needed
- Handles other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Knowledge of modern office equipment
- Ability to operate a personal computer
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems
- Proficient with medical terminology
- 1 years in a medical office preferred
