What are the responsibilities and job description for the Community Social Services Technician position at Surry County DSS?
Overview
This position works with both children and adults who are receiving Social Work Services. This position works with children and their families to meet goals as determined by the Social Worker and the Courts to achieve safety, permanence, and well-being for the children being served. This position supports the Adult and Child appointments, behavioral services appointments, grocery shopping, bill paying, school, visitation, in Foster Care and adults for which the agency provides case management. The position must use considerable judgement regarding consultation with Social Work Staff, must provide written documentation of observations of direct client contacts, and be able to update service plans and clearly communicate concerns and needs with staff. The hours are variable, Monday-Friday 8am – 8pm to meet the needs of the agency, so there must be flexibility in scheduling.
JOB REQUIREMENTS: –Considerable knowledge of and skill in enlisting available community supportive resources for individuals served; considerable knowledge of social, economic, and environmental conditions of clients to be served; considerable knowledge of various types of housing and potential employers for skilled and non-skilled areas; skill in basic reading, writing, and simple mathematics; skill in appraising needs and exercising good judgment in decision-making; skill in establishing rapport with clients and variety of service delivery disciplines and community business personnel; ability to verbally communicate findings.. Valid NC Driver’s License
MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Demonstrated possession of knowledges, skills, and abilities gained through two years of experience in performing similar instructional and community placement tasks; or graduation from a two-year associate degree program designed to prepare support personnel for human services agencies which includes a six month practice/internship in a similar setting (one year of the above experience may be substituted for the practice).
Pay: $28,673.00 - $46,178.00 per year
