Surroundings Interiors is an interior design and furniture destination serving Southern, NJ, and Philadelphia with a presence along the entire East Coast including Maine and Florida. At our core, our specialty is taking a client’s vision & and turning their house into their dream home.

We are looking for a proactive, creative, and knowledgeable Interior Designer with a team-based mindset to join our team. Design is more than just what we do — it’s in our DNA. Applicants should have appropriate experience in the interior design industry.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Design interior spaces, including permanent architectural details
• Assess and meet client requirements and desires through regular meetings and conferences
• Produce sketches, drawings, and floor plans to illustrate concepts and finished projects using computer-aided design programs (CAD) and hand-drawing skills
• Create idea boards to communicate design concepts to clients
• Maintain current knowledge of sales, promotions, store policies, and business practices
• Prepare sales orders and evaluate pricing with the purchasing coordinator or design assistant
• Provide customers with timely and accurate information related to products, pricing, etc.
• Greet and develop relationships with potential customers who visit our amazing showroom
• Research and present information on the features and benefits of products
• Work diligently in a fast-paced environment while taking care of multiple clients at a time
• Coordinate furniture floor plans and accessories with color schemes
• Keep an updated clientele book with customer contact information
• Provide customer assistance on selections and design
• Work with the internal team to price products and manage total customer satisfaction
• Assist customers with choosing decorative home décor and furnishings
• Demonstrate the ability to interact as a team member by communicating effectively with co-workers for customer satisfaction
• Establish project timelines and coordinate work activity, vendor involvement, and outside contractors as necessary
• Read and interpret blueprints
• Work closely with various colleagues, including architects, artists, contractors, painters, upholsterers, and building inspectors
• Participate in regular networking opportunities and actively develop a client base
• Perform research and maintain a working knowledge of trends and new developments in the interior design and architecture worlds
• Other responsibilities as communicated

Requirements:

• A minimum of 2-4 years of Interior Design experience
• Sales / Furniture Retail experience is strongly preferred

Schedule:

• Saturdays required
• We strive to be flexible with schedules as best we can, however, some client meetings may require scheduling changes

Location:

• On-site at our Northfield, NJ showroom
• Some travel required
• Remote work not available
