JOB DESCRIPTION
Looking for qualified, self-motivated Concrete Batch Plant Manager to manage our new batch plant in the Tulsa Metro Area. Batch plants are the production center for ready mix concrete and batch plant operators ensure that the plant operates safely while efficiently loading trucks with concrete that meets specifications. AVAILABILITY
This position is expected to work Monday through Friday and Weekends as required. The manager must be flexible to adjusting daily start and/or finishing times to meet the needs of our customers. A standard workday is 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Weekend work is scheduled as needed. On rare occasions, holiday work may be required.
Specific duties may include:
- Operate batch plant to minimize the time required to batch each load without compromising safety. The batch plant operator is ultimately responsible for everything that happens at the plant including plant safety and making sure that each load meets specifications at the time of loading.
- Proficient with Command Alkon dispatch software.
- Communicate with aggregate and cement suppliers along with dispatch as far in advance as possible to ensure that material shortages due not slow or stop work.
- Prevent unplanned outages by conducting maintenance and promptly reporting any plant deficiencies that could pose a safety hazard or risk plant downtime.
- Follow company safety, communication and compliance procedures. Procedures include, but are not limited to, incident reporting procedures, proper use of protective equipment (hard hat, safety vest, hearing protection) along with tracking and reporting on the cement/aggregate supply.
- Assist with operating a truck, yard operations, block making or dispatch as needed. Batch plant operators may also to asked to assist with compliance requirements such as collection of water samples, monitoring fuel tank use and comparable duties.
- Assist drivers with loading and providing coaching to drivers to improve job performance and batching speed by improving slumping accuracy.
- Practice excellent housekeeping with a special focus on maintaining a clean yard and office. Ensure that trip/slip and other hazards are mininied at each facility.
- Communicate with both internal and external stakeholders including vendors, customers, SurRoca supervisor and SurRoca dispatcher among others.
- Maintains punctual, regular and predictable attendance.
Plant operation:
- Responsible for plant and dispatch operations
- Hire, train, and discipline employees in accordance with company policies
- Coordinate labor with project schedules
- Assist in employee performance reviews
- Remove non-performers
- Ensure all time cards and delivery documents are completed as per company policies
- Maintain plant site and equipment with high expectations of appearance and cleanliness in accordance with company policy
- Assist in and conduct QC procedures
- Responsible for plant and dispatch operations
- Weekly tool box meeting
- Concrete Batch operator training
- Driver training
- Concrete pump operator training
- Belt conveyor operator training
Specific qualifications include:
- Previous ready mix concrete experience such as driving a concrete mixer truck or dispatching ready mix concrete.
- Sufficient math, forecasting and communication skills to manage inventory and communicate needs to prevent outages due to insufficient material availability.
- Demonstrated leadership ability including giving effective performance feedback and encouragement to drivers.
- Demonstrated safety record including consistent compliance with incident reporting and safety investigation procedures.
- Ability to communicate effective and professionally with customers, employees and all other contacts.

Qualifications
- Proven experience as a dispatcher or relevant position
- Knowledge of procedures and guidelines for dispatching and scheduling
- Experience with logistics software will be a plus
- Excellent ability to prioritize and multitask
- Outstanding organizational and multitasking abilities
- Active listener with excellent communication skills
- Sound judgement and critical thinking
- High school diploma or equivalent
Job Conditions / Physical Demand:

- Ability climb ladders and work at heights to inspect silos and facilities
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Ability to work over 40 hours per week especially during peak times
- Ability to work Monday through Saturday and an occasional Sunday if requested
- Ability to sit for extended periods of time
- Ability to lift and/or push 20 to 40 lbs. occasionally
- Must be able to hear and communicate with others including radio and phone use
- Must be able to view, read and complete paperwork and view computer screen
- Ability to stand, walk, climb, stoop, and kneel frequently
- Must be able to write, grip levers/controls, and use radio on a regular basis
- Physically able to climb plant facilities through use of ladders and gangways to access and maintain plant facilities
