Position Summary
Surmount Services PLLC is seeking a part-time Employment Specialist to provide supportive services to individuals with mild to moderate disabilities, including developmental disabilities and autism. This role also includes administrative duties to ensure efficient service delivery and compliance with program requirements.
The Employment Specialist helps clients achieve meaningful employment outcomes while collaborating with employers, families, and team members to promote workplace inclusion. This position offers flexibility, professional growth, and the opportunity to make a significant community impact.
Paid training is provided, and performance bonuses may be available.
Note: Hiring will occur once an ideal candidate is identified — we’re looking for the right fit for our team and clients. The starting rate listed is for the paid training period; compensation may increase following successful completion of training and demonstration of skills.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage schedule and maintain accurate calendar records
- Provide job coaching in person, off-site, or remotely depending on client needs
- Conduct assessments to determine client strengths, interests, and support needs
- Develop individualized employment plans and placement strategies
- Support clients through job applications, interviews, onboarding, and workplace adjustment
- Mentor clients in developing communication, teamwork, and other soft skills
- Collaborate with clients, families, employers, and staff to improve employment outcomes
- Build and maintain relationships with local businesses to identify job opportunities
- Facilitate training sessions on employment readiness and workplace success
- Complete all required documentation and reports accurately and on time
- Ensure confidentiality and compliance with privacy regulations
- Communicate professionally with all stakeholders
- Attend required meetings and complete all mandatory training
- Report suspected abuse or neglect as required by law
- Perform administrative tasks such as scheduling, data entry, and record maintenance
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Authorized to work in the U.S.
- Reliable transportation and a valid Texas Driver’s License in good standing
- Ability to pass a background check
- Excellent organization, time management, and communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation
- Ability to adapt to changing needs and schedules with flexibility
- Teaching and/or experience working with individuals with disabilities
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field (education, social work, rehabilitation, etc.)
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities (minimum six months preferred)
- Knowledge of employment and labor laws
- Skills in American Sign Language or Spanish
- Teaching, training, or mentoring experience
- Background in recruiting, job placement, counseling, or workforce development
- Experience with documentation and data tracking systems
