Position Overview
Surgical Affiliates Management Group, Inc. (SAMGI) is seeking Trauma & Acute Care Surgeons to join the surgical team at Northwest Texas Healthcare System in Amarillo, TX.
This position offers the opportunity to practice within a 495-bed Level II Trauma Center with established volume, defined coverage expectations, and a collaborative care model supported by experienced APPs.

Schedule Structure
- 24-Hour shifts
- 151 shifts per year (12–13 shifts/month)
- Additional backup-only shifts available
Compensation
- Base Salary: $544,000 annually
- Backup-Only Shifts: $500/night (additional earning opportunity)
- Trauma Medical Director Admin Stipend: $80,000
Key Responsibilities
- Provide operative and non-operative Trauma and ACS services
- ICU care for our most critically injured and ill patients
- Lead trauma activations and manage emergency surgical cases
- Participate in ACS service and inpatient consults
- Collaborate with APPs and multidisciplinary teams
- Participate in quality initiatives and maintain timely documentation
Qualifications
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in General Surgery
- Trauma / Surgical Critical Care fellowship preferred
- Eligible for Texas medical licensure
- Experience in trauma or high-acuity surgical environments preferred
