Job description
PART TIME OR PRN. Outpatient, no weekends, holidays, or evenings! C-Arm experience preferred.
SUMMARY: The primary responsibility of this position is to perform fluoroscopic procedures under general supervision of the surgeon performing procedures.
I. POSITION
A. To utilize knowledge of equipment and supplies needed while giving indirect patient care
- Demonstrates and adheres to principles of aseptic techniques
- Knowledgeable of all basic set-ups for procedures with x-rays needs
- Assists in ensuring patient safety
B. To perform the tasks:
- Assists in set up of x-ray equipment in correlation with scrub tech and nurse in room
- Assists with preparation, transportation, and monitoring of patients
- Handles equipment correctly and checks for cleanliness and proper working condition
- Maintains sterile field throughout the Surgery procedure
- Performs room clean up following procedures as well as general housekeeping duties
- Provides assistance in emergency situations as directed
C. To function efficiently as a member of the Surgery team
- Provides assistance to team members, physicians, and anesthesia personnel as needed (i.e., reliability, initiative, work relations, training needs.)
- Reviews physicians’ preference cards and updates as needed
- Assists with stocking, preparation, and waste management of supplies
- Performs other related duties as assigned
D. To support quality activities
- Develop communication skills and promote departmental relationships to ensure continuity of care
- Participates in on-going committee and other educational programs to enhance patient care
- Maintain BLS certification.

III. CONTACT WITH OTHERS
- Internal: Staff in Clinical and Business Office
- External: Physicians, Allied Health Professionals, Patients and Families, Representatives of Medical Industry
V. POSITION REQUIREMENTS Physical and mental – walking, standing, pushing, pulling, required to move patients. Potential exists for exposure to blood and body fluids as well as other hazardous materials. Personal protective equipment should be utilized as needed. Must have knowledge of operating room technique; possess strong organization skills and flexibility; present good communication skills; have the ability to assess priorities; present a professional image.
VI. POSITION SPECIFICATIONSThe X-ray Technician must be a High School graduate or have completed a GED course. Must also be x-ray certified and have at least one-year experience. The successful candidate must have the ability to work independently as well as function within a team; have a basic knowledge of surgery technique; assist in providing care for the surgery patient.
