Position Overview
The Logistics & Shipping/Receiving Manager is a hands-on leadership role responsible for overseeing and actively participating in all shipping, receiving, and logistics operations, including domestic and international shipments. This position ensures timely delivery, accurate documentation, efficient warehouse operations, and cost-effective transportation solutions.
This is a working manager role that requires both leadership and daily operational involvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and assist with daily shipping and receiving operations
- Manage domestic and international shipments, including working with freight forwarders and brokers
- Ensure accurate documentation and compliance with international shipping regulations
- Coordinate with production to ensure on-time shipments
- Communicate shipping schedules with customers and internal teams
- Select shipment routes based on cost, transit time, and security needs
- Negotiate freight rates and consolidate shipments to reduce costs
- Maintain relationships with carriers and logistics vendors
- Resolve shipping errors, delays, and service issues
- Maintain shipping logs, inventory audits, and daily checklists
- Conduct forklift safety and scale verification checks
- Ensure proper packaging, labeling, and documentation of shipments
- Lead and support shipping and receiving personnel
- Drive continuous improvement in logistics and warehouse operations
Requirements
- 3 years of logistics, shipping, and/or warehouse experience required
- Experience with international shipping and logistics required
- Strong knowledge of domestic and international transportation (air, sea, and ground)
- Experience working with freight carriers, forwarders, and brokers
- Knowledge of international shipping documentation and compliance requirements
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Detail-oriented and highly motivated
- Willingness to work in a hands-on environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Manufacturing environment experience preferred
- Forklift certification preferred
- Experience managing shipping and receiving personnel preferred
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required
Work Environment
Manufacturing environment may be hot, dirty, and noisy. Employees may be exposed to metal particulates including nickel, cobalt, iron, and tungsten carbide. Proper safety procedures and PPE are required.

Pay: $26.00 - $30.00 per hour
