Job Description
This employee is responsible for assisting in overseeing daily operations of the dispensary and handling the needs of all customers. This role is responsible for hiring and developing a team of highly motivated individuals who are passionate about cannabis and compliance with state and local rules and regulations. They contribute to making their dispensary an inclusive, forward-thinking environment where employees feel supported by their teammates and every customer feels right at home!
Duties and Responsibilities
Financial
Sales
- Partner with the Dispensary GM to ensure goals, targets, and accountability of the team are in alignment.
- Oversee the team of Dispensary Leads in achieving their day-to-day goals, are given consistent feedback, regular touch bases, performance reviews, and successful objects that are aligned with Surf’s Up’s vision.
- Maintains dispensary operations by adhering to Surf’s Up’s Policies & Procedures for the dispensary and fully comply with state cannabis regulations
- Alongside the Dispensary GMs create a selling culture through consistent staff training, goal settings, contests, etc.
- Is an active presence on the sales floor to maintain an understanding of areas of success and opportunity and ensure the drive for sales is always present
- Ensure in store marketing, signage and customer information is up to date, branded and educational.
- Participate in developing and implementing operational rules, regulations, policies, and procedures to advance Surf’s Up’s mission, vision, goals, and objectives
- Manage and inspire internal staff to deliver the highest level of customer experience.
- Represent the company in a professional manner at all the times.
Personnel Management
- Oversee a team of Budtenders, Inventory, and Dispensary Leads and utilize delegation techniques to ensure efficient daily operations of the dispensary and all tasks are completed in a timely manner.
- Drive a culture of positive employee engagement with a strong focus on inclusion & diversity.
- In partnership with the GM use successful techniques and company directives to screen, hire, orient and train new dispensary staff
- Ensure efficiency of staff through ongoing training, instruction, counseling, and leadership. Plan weekly/daily staff schedules and assignments
- Identify and address employee issues on a timely basis. Document appropriately, communicate the situation to your supervisor and the human resources department, and terminate properly when necessary.
- Ensure all administrative processes involving personnel are handled on a timely basis (i.e., performance evaluations, salary reviews, time sheets, etc.
Regulations/Compliance
- Maintaining all aspects of dispensary operation in strict compliance with Cannabis Control Commission, municipal, and state legal regulations and requirements.
- Initiating and maintaining positive relationships with abutting businesses and neighborhood groups and associations.
- Effectively manage cash controls and financial reporting. Ensure POS, cash outs, bank logs, inventory and deposits are accurate and executed according to Surf’s Up standard.
- Partner with the Inventory Manager to ensure accurate inventory records are maintained in compliance with the CCC
- Manage financial records and cash handling procedures.
Maintenance
- Maintain dispensary appearance and ensure repairs are noted and completed on a timely basis. This requires regular dispensary inspections.
- Ensure that all service requests are recorded and communicated appropriately.
Safety
- Learn and ensure compliance with all company, local, state and federal safety rules.
- Ensure that unsafe conditions are corrected in a timely manner.
- Direct staff to follow a "safety first" principle.
Qualifications
- Must stay current and adhere to all policies and regulations of the state cannabis agency.
- Must meet age requirement as outlined by state cannabis agency.
- Able to pass all background checks as required by state cannabis agency.
- Inventory control experience required
- Prior cannabis experience required
Experience
- 2-3 years in a management/leadership role of a team of 6 employees

- Manages retail team with authority to hire/terminate
Working Conditions
- Work is primarily performed in a dispensary setting. The working area may be odorous at times and loud due to fans and filtration systems, fluctuating between cold and warm temperatures.
- Involves frequent contact with staff, vendors, and customers. Work may include dealing with law enforcement and occasional State inspectors.
Physical Requirements
- The person in this position frequently communicates with customers and must be able to exchange accurate information about product offerings.
- Frequently operates computer/POS system and other standard office equipment such as printers, phones and photocopy machines.
- The person in this position must be able to remain in a stationary position when checking in customers or when operating the register.
- Constantly moves and transports dispensary products/totes up to 30 lbs. throughout the dispensary.
- Ability to twist, turn, bend, stand and walk as required to perform the duties associated with functioning as a dispensary agent.

Pay: $55,000.00 per year
