Position Summary

The OB/GYN Provider is responsible for delivering comprehensive women's health services to patients of all ages within the Suquamish Tribe Health Center and surrounding community. This position provides preventative, diagnostic, and therapeutic obstetric and gynecological care in a fast-paced primary care and specialty clinic environment. The provider works collaboratively with physicians, advanced practice providers, midwives, nursing staff, and other healthcare team members to promote high-quality, culturally responsive care that supports the health and wellness of Tribal members and the community.

The ideal candidate is committed to patient-centered care, prevention, health education, and fostering trusting relationships within a diverse patient population.

Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesClinical Care
  • Provide comprehensive gynecological services, including annual exams, screenings, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up care.
  • Deliver obstetrical care within the scope of practice and coordinated care model established by the Health Center.
  • Diagnose and treat conditions affecting the female reproductive system.
  • Perform routine and specialized procedures, including:
  • Pap smears
  • Colposcopies
  • Endometrial biopsies
  • IUD and contraceptive implant insertion/removal
  • Prenatal evaluations
  • Menopause management
  • Manage reproductive health concerns, family planning, and contraceptive counseling.
  • Provide screening, diagnosis, and treatment of sexually transmitted infections.
  • Order, review, and interpret laboratory tests, imaging studies, and diagnostic procedures.
  • Coordinate referrals to specialists, hospitals, and community resources when necessary.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans and monitor patient outcomes.
Patient Education
  • Educate patients regarding pregnancy, reproductive health, disease prevention, family planning, menopause, and healthy lifestyle practices.
  • Promote preventative healthcare and routine screenings.
  • Encourage patient participation in healthcare decisions through shared decision-making.
Care Coordination
  • Collaborate with primary care providers, nursing staff, behavioral health providers, care coordinators, and external healthcare partners.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary case reviews and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Support care coordination efforts for high-risk patients and those with complex healthcare needs.
Documentation and Compliance
  • Maintain timely, accurate, and complete electronic medical records.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable tribal, state, federal, and accreditation standards.
  • Adhere to patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements.
  • Participate in quality assurance and performance improvement activities.
Community and Cultural Engagement
  • Provide culturally sensitive and trauma-informed care that respects Tribal traditions, values, and beliefs.
  • Support the mission, vision, and values of the Suquamish Tribe Health Center.
  • Participate in community outreach, health education events, and wellness initiatives as appropriate.
Required QualificationsEducation
  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited institution.
Licensure and Certification
  • Current Washington State physician license, or ability to obtain prior to employment.
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
  • Current DEA registration.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • ACLS certification preferred.
Experience
  • Minimum two years of clinical experience in Obstetrics and Gynecology preferred.
  • Experience in community health, Tribal health, rural healthcare, or underserved populations preferred.
  • Experience working in an integrated healthcare setting preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong knowledge of evidence-based OB/GYN practices and standards of care.
  • Ability to manage a diverse patient population in a high-volume clinic environment.
  • Excellent clinical judgment and diagnostic skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to establish trust and maintain positive working relationships with patients, families, and staff.
  • Commitment to culturally responsive healthcare delivery.
  • Proficiency with electronic health records and healthcare technology.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, and move throughout the clinic during extended periods.
  • Ability to perform medical examinations and office procedures.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 25 pounds occasionally.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to perform clinical procedures and operate medical equipment.
Working Conditions
  • Fast-paced outpatient clinical environment.
  • Frequent direct patient contact.
  • Exposure to communicable diseases and bodily fluids.
  • Occasional evening or community outreach activities may be required.
