About the Role
Join a major public sector Workday transformation where you will shape the end-to-end solution architecture across multiple Workday modules. You will provide technical leadership, challenge implementation partners, and ensure the platform is designed to support long-term business outcomes while delivering a successful Phase II implementation.
Role Details
- Location: Dane County, Madison, Wisconsin, USA
- Work Arrangement: Primarily On-site (Remote considered for exceptional candidates based in the US with frequent travel to Madison)
- Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm CST/CDT
- Contract Type: Contract
- Duration: August 2026 – June 2027 (Extendable)
- Travel: On-site preferred. Remote candidates should expect 5–8 site visits during the first month, reducing to at least 4 visits per month thereafter. Travel costs are the responsibility of the employing agency.
- Eligibility: Candidates must be authorised to work in the United States.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end solution architecture across Workday HCM, Payroll, Recruiting, Benefits, Performance and Peakon.
- Define architecture for integrations, security, data conversion and cross-functional business processes.
- Review and challenge implementation partner designs to ensure alignment with business and technical requirements.
- Facilitate architecture and design workshops with HR, Payroll, Finance and IT stakeholders.
- Provide technical leadership, architectural governance and mentorship throughout the implementation.
Competency Profile

- Excellent analytical and architectural problem-solving abilities.
- Able to make informed design decisions and communicate technical concepts clearly.
Required Skills & Experience
- 6 years' hands-on Workday configuration and solution design experience.
- 4 years as a Workday Solutions Architect, Lead Consultant or Design Lead delivering full lifecycle implementations.
- Experience leading enterprise architecture discussions with business and technical stakeholders.
Required Technical Skills
- Workday Core HCM, Security and Business Process Framework
- Workday Integrations (EIB, Core Connectors, Workday Studio)
- Workday Payroll plus at least one of Benefits, Recruiting, Performance, Advanced Compensation or Time Tracking
- Data conversion, integration architecture and Workday security design
- Architecture governance across enterprise Workday implementations
Optional Technical Skills
- Workday Pro Certifications (HCM, Payroll, Integrations, Benefits or Advanced Compensation)
- Public sector or government Workday implementations
- OnBase or other Enterprise Content Management migration experience
