Job Overview
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professionals to provide high-quality care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities, aging needs, or other health challenges. Responsibilities
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
- Support residents with medication reminders and management in accordance with care plans
- Respite care
- Provide companionship and emotional support to promote mental well-being
- Assist with meal preparation and feeding as needed, ensuring nutritional needs are met
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping tasks such as cleaning and laundry
- Use specialized equipment like Hoyer lifts for resident transfers safely and effectively
- Follow care plans meticulously while documenting observations in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Support residents during outings or community activities to foster social engagement
- Recognize signs of medical emergencies or behavioral changes and respond appropriately by contacting medical professionals or family members
Requirements
- Prior experience in group homes, assisted living, nursing homes, or home health care is preferred
- Valid Drivers License and Insurance
- Certifications such as CPR and First Aid are highly desirable; willingness to obtain these certifications is required if not already held
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, dementia, Alzheimer's disease, or memory care needs is advantageous
- Ability to perform heavy lifting when necessary for resident transfers or mobility assistance
- Strong communication skills and patience when working with diverse populations including seniors and individuals with disabilities
- Successfully pass background check
- Flexibility to work various shifts including days, evenings, weekends, or holidays as needed
