With close supervision of Program Coordinator, the House Manager- DLS manages all logistical, operational, and programmatic aspects of a daily living support home. Directly supervises all direct service staff on all shifts assigned to home. Assists with managing the operations of the Residential Services Program while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. Responsibilities include coordinating activities and documenting progress of persons served, maintaining facility, and preparing meals. Also represents each client as their Health Care Coordinator, including but not limited to, attending all medical appointments.

  • ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Assist with managing the operations of the residential programs, including coordinating activities and overseeing the accounting of individual finances.
  • Monitor the comfort and safety of all individuals served while ensuring that living environments and program activities are in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Support people served to identify and achieve the personal outcomes important to them.
  • Supervise residential services staff.
  • Assist in planning and preparation of meals and snacks while ensuring that menus and doctor ordered special diets are followed. Maintain sanitary conditions in kitchen during meal preparation, storage, and serving.
  • Maintain files documenting developmental progress and other information as required for each individual served.
  • Implement behavior programs and strategies. Intervene when aggressive and/or inappropriate behavior occurs.
  • Ensure behavior programs and strategies are implemented as specified.
  • Oversee the maintenance of the residential facility and transportation vehicle assigned. Fill out maintenance request if needed for repairs.
  • Handle client’s cash and individual finances. Purchase groceries and/or supplies as needed.
  • Prepare reports and other correspondence in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Perform miscellaneous duties as scheduling staff, ensuring medications are administered, and participating in individual program planning teams.
  • Responsible for finding coverage for vacancies in their home. If coverage cannot be found, HM is expected to cover the shift or make arrangements with their PC.
  • Participates in on-call system to ensure 24-hour availability of emergency staff.
  • Must speak English Language only while clients are present.
  • Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of Company policies and procedures.

  • Skill in administering CPR and basic first aid.

  • Ability to read, write, maintain records, and understand regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to work irregular hours, including overnight stays when required.
  • Ability to use personal computer and telephone.
  • Ability to maintain a patient and positive attitude.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to perform at least medium work (a strength factor involving ability to lift and/or exert 50 pounds occasionally, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects).
  • Knowledge of and ability to perform support/intervention techniques.
  • Knowledge of basic cooking techniques; cooking skills; ability to follow menus and recipes.
  • Ability to recognize natural teaching opportunities and to act upon them.
  • Ability to perform household cleaning tacks (including moving furniture and appliances on rollers, pushing, pulling, lifting, bending, kneeling, stooping, reaching, overhead reaching, etc.).
  • Ability to handle unpleasant personal care tasks with sensitivity and caring, and to allay maladaptive (sometimes aggressive) behaviors while maintaining calm and composed.
  • Knowledge of general human development and psychology (including agents affecting human behaviors and how people learn).
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and speak English, skill in composing clear, concise memorandums and incident reports (with correct grammar and sentence structure); and ability to recognize and utilize alternative communication methods (e/g/ pictures, symbols, and/or rudimentary sign language for those persons served who are non-verbal or have hearing impairments).
  • Skill in collecting and recording data/information as required by the individual in the home.
  • Ability to communicate about sensitive situations.
  • Knowledge of pertinent state and federal regulations pertaining to active treatment.
  • Ability to work independently, yet participate, give constructive feedback, and accept feedback in a team approach and consultative approach to training and service delivery.
  • Ability to drive.
  • Ability to speak English.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or equivalent. Position requires certification in CPR and first aid. Minimum of one-year experience working in a related field. Successful completion of all internal and state sponsored training in the first 12 months of employment followed by compliance with continuing education requirements.
