Support Services of Virginia is seeking Sponsored Residential Providers throughout Hampton Roads and the Eastern Shore who are interested in providing long-term, home-based support for one or two adults with intellectual disabilities.
Sponsored Residential Providers offer a stable and supportive living environment that encourages independence, community involvement, and meaningful daily living. This opportunity is ideal for compassionate individuals or families who want to positively impact someone’s life while welcoming them into a natural home setting.
Eligible Households
SSVA welcomes interest from:
• Individuals
• Couples and partners
• Family households, including mother/daughter households
Homes are preferred to not include children younger than 12 years old.
Qualifications
Applicants must:
• Be 21 years of age or older
• Hold a high school diploma or GED
• Be active within their local community
• Have at least six months of professional or personal experience supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities, preferably adults
• Be comfortable using technology and electronic systems
• Demonstrate strong written communication skills
Candidates who do not yet meet experience requirements may qualify for opportunities as a Direct Support Professional (DSP) within other SSVA services to gain experience.
Family members of individuals eligible for sponsored services may apply, although additional approval standards apply for related providers.
Provider Role
Sponsored Residential Providers partner with Support Services of Virginia as independent subcontractors and are not employees of SSVA.
Providers take an active role in supporting the individual’s daily needs, personal growth, and participation within the community. SSVA carefully matches individuals with provider homes based on lifestyle compatibility, interests, and support needs.
Program Information
• Payments are distributed biweekly
• Certification may require up to three months to complete
• Required training is provided free of charge
• Homes must satisfy licensing requirements before approval
• Applicants must provide detailed household and lifestyle information
• Providers must follow all licensing and program expectations
• Providers should value diversity and support individuals with varying personalities and support needs
Salary : $48,000 - $124,000
