What are the responsibilities and job description for the Full Time Advocate position at Support in Abusive Family Emergencies, Inc?
Overall Responsibilities: Provide crisis intervention, victim's assistance and advocacy; assess residential program participants' needs and set up a comprehensive program for each; act as residential case manager, seeing that services are rendered as planned; conduct follow-up with former residents; network with other agencies; work in coordination with other staff under the supervision of Services Coordinator. The CAC Advocate is a position at the Butterfly House Child Advocacy Center. This position serves to assist the CAC Director with needs pertaining to the supervised family visitation program and forensic interview child abuse program, including mentoring and educating the CAC Director.
Qualifications:
Mature individual with time/flexibility to adapt schedule. An understanding of the issue of domestic violence and sensitivity to the plight of battered women and their children; ability to work with and advocate for children while providing support to their mothers; crisis intervention, problem-solving and advocacy skills; knowledge of resources; ability to utilize empowerment philosophy, to remain nonjudgmental and to work with diverse populations; ability to work with volunteers; ability to communicate both orally and in writing in a clear and concise manner; must be capable of working independently and with little direct supervision. Travel required along with ability to work a flexible schedule as needed.
Prefer Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience with proven effectiveness.
Requirements:
All positions require a pre-employment criminal background check and drug test; a confirmed positive drug test will prohibit employment. A DUI conviction within 5 years will also prohibit employment. All newly hired employees will be subject to a motor vehicle history report, inclusion in the Federal E-Verify and Georgia New Hire reporting programs. In addition, employees providing direct services to clients must undergo a live scan fingerprint check and maintain current CPR training. S.A.F.E. will cover the expense of these requirements. Employees must also provide proof of bodily injury liability auto insurance coverage for their personal vehicle in the amount of $100,000 per person, $300,000 per occurrence/accident. This is required before any employee can transport someone in their vehicle for the agency.
