The Account Director is a strategic thinker with excellent client management skills. The Account Director will lead client teams while managing and growing client relationships and driving revenue growth for the agency. This person is responsible for the strategic direction of clients and will collaborate with other strategists in the company to develop long-term strategic plans for clients. The Account Director is accountable for delivering effective work that delivers on client objectives while ensuring the work is profitable for the agency. This person is responsible for managing client relationships, developing marketing strategies and plans to accomplish client objectives, and steward projects through the advertising agency alongside the account service team. This person has experience managing a team of people and managing a dynamic client list.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, acting as the primary point of contact.
  • Develop and execute strategies to grow existing client accounts, ensuring high client satisfaction and retention.
  • Lead and manage a team of account managers and executives, providing guidance, support, and mentorship to drive team performance and exceed client expectations.
  • Collaborate with the creative, communications, production, and strategy teams to develop and execute integrated advertising campaigns across various channels, including digital, social, print, and broadcast.
  • Manage client budgets and ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, technology advancements, and best practices to continuously improve agency offerings and client results.
  • Present agency work and strategic recommendations to clients, leveraging data and insights to support recommendations and drive client buy-in.
  • Develop project estimates that reflect the scope of work.
  • In collaboration with the Communications team, monitor campaign performance and provide regular reports and analysis to clients and internal team.
  • Ability to work in and coach team members within various platforms to support the execution of work as needed, including email service providers, marketing automation platforms, website content management systems, customer relationship management systems, etc.
  • Working with the team to develop content themes and calendars for multi-channel communication.
  • Ability to provide clear, decisive feedback to the team.
  • Ability to assess the priority of projects and direct team members towards those priorities.
  • Management responsibilities with direct reports.
  • Professional, clear, and friendly client communication. Constantly keeping the client aware of project status and ensuring accurate documentation is provided throughout the process.
  • Ability to engage impactfully with clients in virtual or live meetings with strong verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to anticipate client needs and the needs of the team to ensure the team is prepared for each step in the project, and the client feels cared for.


Qualifications:

  • BA, BS, or MBA degree with an emphasis in Marketing Communications, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • 8-10 years of experience in marketing & advertising.
  • Advertising agency experience required.
  • Excellent written/verbal communication and time management skills.
  • A basic understanding of Web technology platforms.
  • Deep understanding of advertising industry trends, best practices, and technology advancements
  • Strategic planning experience.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions
  • Must be self-motivated and a lover of learning.
