Description:

We are looking for a hands-on and collaborative Staff R&D Data Engineer with experience in developing, maintaining, and managing both backend and frontend systems for collecting, storing, and analyzing large amounts of medical device data. This position represents an exciting opportunity to join the Supira team as we expand the clinical usage of and commercialize the Supira mechanical circulatory support system. This is a full time on-site position and will require reporting to our offices located in Los Gatos, CA.

Responsibilities, Skills & Hands-On Experience:

• Develop, maintain, and manage the growth of the Supira data platform used for the storage and analysis of all system performance and patient hemodynamic data.
• Develop & validate new methods for data collection and automated test reporting.
• Maintain existing pipelines while transitioning to new ones, as needed.
• Manage the growth, scale, and architecture; forecast, formulate, and execute plans based on future platform needs.
• Work with a diverse team of research and development, manufacturing, quality, clinical, and regulatory personnel to ensure the data platform enables secure, meaningful, and regulatory compliant data to end-users.
• Contribute to the intellectual property position of the company.
  
  
  

Education & Work Experience:

• B.S. Degree in a technical field such as computer science, data science, engineering, mathematics, or similar.
• 8 years of experience developing and maintaining a data capture and analysis platform having both backend (in a primary role) and frontend (in a limited role)
• Experience in a highly regulated environment (medical, aerospace, autonomous vehicle, etc.) or supporting a commercial application.
• Demonstrated experience with:
• ETL pipelines for relational databases (i.e., Postgres), writing SQL queries, and medallion architecture
• Python-based data analysis & visualization pipelines (i.e., Pandas, Quarto, Airflow, DataHub, Superset, etc.)
• Continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD) pipelines relevant to data platforms: (i.e., GIT / Bitbucket, Jenkins, Docker)
• Standard cybersecurity practices for all pipelines including role-based data and analysis access, data lineage, usage logging, etc.
• Basic frontend development (i.e., FastAPI)
• Basic utilization of AI-based coding tools (e.g., Claude, Copilot, etc.)
• Self-motivated and independent worker that is still able to work collaboratively with a cross-functional team. Executes tasks with attention to detail in a timely manner.
  
  
  

Our salary ranges are calculated by role, level, and location. Please note that your position within that range will be determined by your job-related knowledge, location, skills, experience, relevant education, and training/certifications. The base salary range for this full-time position is between $170,000 - $200,000 equity benefits.
