What are the responsibilities and job description for the Flight Control Systems CLAW Engineer position at Supernal?

What we do:
The Flight Control Systems CLAW Engineer is a contributor to the development and implementation of the Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) of our aircraft. The CLAW team collaborates closely with the Systems and Software teams to define the I/O architecture and the flight controls sensors required, and with Human factors to design an updated cockpit control design for Simplified Vehicle Operations (SVO).
What you can do:
Collaborate with control law team to design and implement flight control algorithms for a VTOL aircraft with a novel configuration
Proficiency in implementing classical and modern control law
Participate in trade studies between different design considerations and control schemes
Participate in design of control system architecture, response types, etc. for an aircraft with multiple flight regimes
Conduct stability and control related analyses in time and frequency domain.
Collaborate with the Systems engineering team to define and review requirements related to the flight control system and system safety
Other duties as assigned
What you can contribute:
Bachelor’s degree in aerospace or relevant engineering field
A minimum of three (3) years of experience (an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered)
Some experience in flight control algorithm design for rotary-wing and/or fixed-wing Fly-By-Wire aircraft systems
Some experience in analyzing flight dynamic modes for stability and control
Experience with mixing and blending of control surface commands
Exposure to flight testing environment
Experience with requirement definition
Experience with system identification and optimization tools (CIFER, CONDUIT)
Experience in math model development of a physical system
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Proactive delivery of communication and follow up
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Must have the ability to independently prioritize and accomplish work within time constraints
Self-motivated and forward-thinking personality
Some familiarity with DO-178B/C, DO-160, DO-254, ARP 4754A, ARP 4761 is beneficial
Expertise in MathWorks® tools for control algorithm development
Some familiarity with FAA part 23/25/27/29 or other certification experience
Familiarity with aircraft handling quality requirements
