Job Summary
As the Sr. Manager of Server Architecture, you will be the visionary leader responsible for the architectural DNA of Supermicro’s next-generation server solutions. Based at our San Jose HQ, you will oversee and synchronize high-performing architecture teams across both Silicon Valley and Taiwan.
You will lead the end-to-end design lifecycle—from initial technology study to finalized system blueprints—ensuring our hardware remains the gold standard for AI, Cloud, and Enterprise infrastructure. This is a high-impact leadership role that combines deep technical mastery with the strategic responsibility of expanding our global architectural footprint.
This role will be based in our headquarters in San Jose, CA.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
$108,000 - $190,000
The salary offered will depend on several factors, including your location, level, education, training, specific skills, years of experience, and comparison to other employees already in this role. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation, such as participation in bonus and equity award programs.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Direct and mentor multi-regional architecture teams in San Jose and Taiwan, fostering a culture of innovation and technical excellence
- Strategically expand and scale the team by identifying talent gaps and hiring top-tier architects to meet evolving business demands
- Lead the study, proposal, and high-level design of new Supermicro system products
- Define architectural specifications for cutting-edge platforms, incorporating the latest CPU, GPU, and high-speed interconnect technologies
- Chair architecture design discussions with key engineering stakeholders, including System, Chassis, Power, Hardware Design, and Rack Solutions
- Ensure seamless integration between individual components to deliver optimized, "Total Solution" rack-level architectures
- Conduct feasibility studies on emerging technologies (e.g., Liquid Cooling, PCIe Gen 6/7, CXL) to maintain Supermicro's competitive edge
- Translate market trends into actionable technical requirements for the internal R&D pipeline
- Bachelor or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field
- 10 years in server/workstation architecture, system or electrical design, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership or managerial position
- Expert-level knowledge of x86/ARM server architectures and the building-block approach to hardware
- Comprehensive understanding of the interplay between thermal dynamics (Chassis), power delivery (PSU/VRM), and high-speed signal integrity
- Proven track record of managing engineering teams across different time zones (specifically US and Asia) and successfully scaling technical organizations
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to deliver high-impact technical presentations during high-level client visits and stakeholder meetings
- A proven record of leading technical teams to design and deliver market-leading solutions that directly result in major business wins and competitive advantage
